Youssou N´Dour. I bring what I love

Last night I went to see the film "Youssou N´dour. I bring what I love". The film was held 22:30 in the gardens of the "Palacio de los Cordoba", at the bottom of the Albaicin Quarter, underneeth the Alhambra, & with fantastic views of the Alhambra. Trailer of "Youssou N´Dour. I bring what I love" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z06mQT_vkkw The film is part of the program of the "Festival de Cines del Sur" held in Granada this week. I got to know the music of Youssou N´Dour sometime early 90´s in Germany...it was through a song together with Peter Gabriel..."shaking the Tree"...it was a time in which the american miusicians were very much into african/ethnical music, Peter Gabriel, but as well Paul Simon with his work "rythms of the Saints". Shaking the Tree with Peter Gabriel http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wt7h6IxJauw The film of yesterday is the preparation, making up & the world tour of his work "Egypt", 2004. He sings "islamic music", religious texts...very controverted CD, very much accepted in the western world, he won 2005 a Grammy for it, but not so far under the islamic community, who said he was not allowed to talk about Prophet Muhammad & Allah... I have 3 CD´s of Yossou N´Dour, a work of him 1990, another of 2000 & his Greatest Hits (which I don´t find in my mess of CD´s)...I remember the only concert of him I have been to, it was in Granada sometime 2004...I managed to bring about 8-10 people to the concert, telling them it was going to be something unforgettable, that Youssou N´Dour is the best living african musician in the world, etc, etc. & my friends came...it was an unforgettable night, I think none of the people who went to it will ever forget it, then all of the people coming with me had never heared him, not heared about him... Birima http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yH8koG6brAQ Yesterday, during the film, I almost cried hearing "Birima" & "7 seconds" again...but the song that most impressed me yesterday was "Tuba"...a song about the yearly pilgrimage to the city of Tuba, in Senegal. Tuba http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vdW0jwEihrs & now a few more "pearls" of Youssou N´dour that I found in internet: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k2Q4bc86yiI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZnM6zHUEeSs Enjoy his songs
